What is Dogecoin, how much is made, and how to get started mining it.

Dogecoin is a reliable cryptocoin which welcomes people with a smile. The distibuted peer-to-peer Doge network offers a decenteralzed payment and asset management system.

Dogecoin was founded on December 6, 2013 by Billy Markus and Jackson Palmer. While it started off as a joke, it now makes well over $100k in coinage per day.

Dogecoin offers a faster blocktime than Bitcoin (1 minute vs 10) and a higher amount of coins per block (10,000). This means that payments in Dogecoin are much more convenient and when you mine it, you have a higher chance of rewards.

Dogecoin is also merge mined with Litecoin. Meaning, when you mine Dogecoin, the same electricity you use to mine Dogecoin will be used to mine Litecoin as well. That's double the rewards! Two popular cryptocurrency coins for the price of one.

New to mining?

You'll need some hardware

The first thing you'll want to do is pick up some mining hardware. While it is possible to experiment with a CPU or GPU, it's highly recommended that you purchase an ASIC miner to do some serious Dogecoin/Litecoin merged mining.

Dogecoin Mining Software

You'll want to start by getting a Dogecoin wallet. We recommend MyDoge.

Next, get a Litecoin wallet. We recommend Litewallet.

When setting up your mining wallets, we highly recommend you write down your seed phrases as a backup somewhere. There will be zero customer support if you lose access to your wallets without these seed phrases. Protect them as well as you would any bank credentials.

Now you're ready to set up your mining hardware. If you're still waiting for your ASIC miner to arrive, you can experiment with CPUMiner to get started. Use the command below to get cpuminer running:
